Goa vs. Udaipur: which destination wedding is right for you?
Every couple who discovers destination weddings eventually lands on the same shortlist: Goa or Udaipur. They represent two entirely different promises. Goa says holiday — barefoot ceremonies, long lunches, a sangeet that runs with the tide. Udaipur says legacy — heritage palaces, boat transfers, mandaps that feel intimate even with five hundred guests. Both deliver exactly what they promise, which is why the choice matters more than most couples realise.
Logistics-wise, Goa is gentler. Flights are frequent, venues are spread across a manageable stretch of coastline, and a three-day wedding rarely requires more than two or three venue changes. Udaipur is more complex: guest movement across palaces and lakes, elderly relatives who need care at every step, and a scale that demands a hospitality operation running in parallel to everything else. Neither is harder — they're just different kinds of complex, and experienced planning makes both feel invisible.
The honest cost conversation cuts the other way. Goa commands premium venue prices in peak season, and the catering and accommodation options cluster at the luxury end with less flexibility. Udaipur's heritage properties vary more widely in price, and for larger guest counts — three hundred and above — the per-head economics often favour Rajasthan. But factor in travel from major Indian metros and the gap narrows quickly.
The real question isn't which destination photographs better — both look extraordinary. It's what kind of weekend you want to give your guests. A Goa wedding is a holiday with a celebration at its heart. A Udaipur wedding is a coronation with a holiday woven in. Neither answer is wrong. Our comparison guide walks through both across twelve criteria — use it as the starting point for a conversation, not a verdict.
