Leela Palace Udaipur Wedding Cost: The Widest Range in Udaipur

The Leela Palace Udaipur sits on the banks of Lake Pichola facing the Aravallis, with 80 rooms and one of the most photographed wedding lawns in the country. When families ask us what a wedding there costs, the truthful answer is a range so wide it sounds evasive: planner-published estimates from 2025-26 run from about ₹1 crore to ₹8 crore. The range is not evasion. It is the property's defining feature, and understanding why it is so wide is the whole game.

Start with the number two sources actually agree on, which is rare in this market. A three-night buyout of the palace is estimated at ₹1.2-2.5 crore. That is the cost of making the property yours: 80 rooms, the lawns, the venues. Base rooms run around ₹50,000 a night and suites around ₹1.5 lakh, so the arithmetic of a buyout is mostly the arithmetic of rooms. The hotel itself publishes none of this, and quotes shift with season and dates.

Everything above the buyout is where budgets diverge. Planner estimates put complete weddings for 200-350 guests over three days at roughly ₹2.5-8 crore. The spread between those two ends is not the hotel charging differently; it is decor, production, entertainment, and menu tier. A wedding with elegant florals and a DJ, and a wedding with a set build and a flown-in headline act, can share the same buyout invoice and differ by several crore in total.

Catering is the most confusing line item because published figures genuinely conflict. Some sources cite ₹3,500-6,000 per plate; others cite ₹8,000-15,000. Our honest reading: budget ₹4,000-12,000 per plate depending on the function and menu, and expect quotes to vary widely. The lower band roughly describes daytime functions and standard menus, the upper band reception dinners with premium and imported ingredients. Never multiply a single per-plate figure across all functions; that is how estimates go wrong by half a crore.

Where the Leela earns its place on shortlists is flexibility of scale. Taj Lake Palace is capped near 160 guests by its island. Oberoi Udaivilas starts around ₹2.5 crore plus taxes before you have decorated anything. The Leela can host a contained wedding from about ₹1 crore in planner estimates, or a 350-guest, three-day production at the top of the market. Very few palace properties in India cover that much ground on one lawn.

The caveats that apply to every figure here: these are planner-published estimates from 2025-26, not hotel rates, because the hotel publishes none. Peak dates from October to February price well above the shoulder season. And 18% GST is typically extra on hotel charges, which on a ₹3 crore wedding adds over ₹50 lakh. Any quote you receive should be interrogated on all three points before it goes into a family budget discussion.
