Wedding Decoration Cost in India 2026: ₹1 Lakh to ₹1 Crore, Tier by Tier

Decor is the most visible line on a wedding sheet and the least standardised. Every setup is custom, so published bands run wide, and vendor marketing fills the gaps where real data should be. The figures below are published 2025-26 estimates from decorator listings and wedding-planning guides, with the weakly sourced ones flagged as such. As with all wedding services, 18 percent GST is typically charged on top of decor quotes, so add it mentally to every number here.

The published tiers are consistent across sources. Basic single-event decor for a 300 to 500 guest function runs ₹1 to ₹4 lakh. Mid-range work, with fuller floral coverage and better fabrication, runs ₹5 to ₹10 lakh. Luxury floral productions run ₹15 to ₹40 lakh per event. At the top, palace and destination showpieces run ₹40 lakh to ₹1 crore and beyond, where the decor brief stops being decoration and becomes temporary architecture.

For metro weddings specifically, one cluster of published estimates puts typical spend at ₹1.5 to ₹8 lakh, with designer-led concepts starting around ₹3 to ₹5 lakh. We flag this plainly: it comes from a narrow set of sources rather than the broad agreement behind the tiers above, so treat it as indicative. It does sit comfortably inside those broader tiers, which is a point in its favour, but do not anchor a negotiation on it.

Now an honest gap. Families constantly ask what a mandap alone costs, and no credible standalone answer exists in published sources. The mandap is quoted inside bundles covering mandap, stage and entrance, and those bundles run roughly ₹1 to ₹5 lakh in listings. Any decorator who quotes a mandap-only figure is carving it out of a bundle for your benefit, which is fine, but compare bundle against bundle when you shortlist, not carve-out against carve-out.

A second gap: there is no credible published comparison of fresh versus artificial florals. Decorator marketing routinely claims large savings from artificial or mixed arrangements, but no independent source publishes a usable price differential, and the real answer depends on season, variety and design density. If the choice matters to your budget, ask your decorator to price your actual design both ways, in writing. That pair of quotes is worth more than any percentage a listing offers.

The practical good news is that decor is the most negotiable major line on the sheet. Reusing structures across functions, so the sangeet stage becomes the reception backdrop, saves real money with no visible compromise. At outdoor venues, shifting spend from florals to lighting stretches the budget furthest, because after sunset guests remember light, not petals. Decor quotes reward families who engage with the design rather than just the number.
