Our planning estimates for a 150-guest luxury destination wedding: ₹80 lakh to ₹1.8 crore in Goa and ₹90 lakh to ₹2.2 crore in Udaipur, all in. Dubai and other international destinations add roughly 30–40%, mostly in rooms and imported vendors.
Cost per guest is the honest comparison
A 100-guest wedding at ₹80 lakh is ₹80,000 a head; a 300-guest wedding at ₹1.8 crore is ₹60,000 a head. The second is cheaper per guest, but more than double the total and far harder to run. Every guest added is rooms, meals, transfers and a hamper across every function.
The main cost heads
The biggest destination wedding costs usually include venue and room block, F&B, décor and florals, photography and videography, entertainment, production, guest hospitality, airport transfers, welcome hampers, permits and contingency.
The guest-list multiplier
Adding guests rarely adds only food cost. It can add rooms, hampers, transfers, seating, hospitality staffing, venue load, décor scale and guest-support complexity.

Which country is the cheapest for a wedding?
From the rate cards resorts sent us for a 200-guest Indian wedding, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia come out cheapest: two days of rooms and food from about ₹30–62 lakh, short flights and visa-free or e-visa entry. Bali's venues are cheap but flights double the bill. Singapore, Italy, Turkey's Antalya resorts, the UAE and Mauritius are the dearest, at ₹1.1–2 crore before décor and taxes.
How much does a wedding venue cost in India?
Two days with every room runs about ₹25–80 lakh at a heritage hotel and ₹1.6–4 crore at Rajasthan's palace hotels, ₹10–40 lakh at Kashmir's 4-star hotels and ₹9–39 lakh in Ladakh, usually with meals. Plan on about 100 rooms for two nights. That buys out a heritage hotel in Udaipur, Jodhpur or Ranthambore for roughly ₹25–80 lakh, or a palace hotel for ₹1.6–4 crore, usually with meals. Décor, photography, artists, guest travel and GST come on top.
How much does a destination wedding cost in Kashmir?
Taking every room for two days runs about ₹50 lakh–1.7 crore at the big Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam hotels and ₹10–40 lakh at 4-star hotels, before décor. Only two valley hotels hold bar licences; elsewhere you need an excise permit.
What is the minimum budget for a destination wedding in India?
For a luxury destination wedding with proper hospitality and multiple functions, ₹60 lakh is a practical starting point. Smaller weddings can cost less: Ladakh and Kashmir 4-star hotels take two days of rooms for ₹10–40 lakh.
Which is cheaper: Goa or Udaipur?
It depends on season, venue, room nights and design ambition. Goa can be easier for resort-style hospitality; Udaipur becomes premium quickly with palace or lakeside venues, from about ₹1.6 crore for two days.
